A beautiful home away from home...not a house to us.
We've been renting homes in the Territories for years and this is one of the best homes we have stayed in. It's beautifully decorated and in our case we were able to enjoy holiday decor also. The beds were so incredibly comfortable. Pool table was great for our teenage son and dad to play and bond. Cozy matching rockers in front of the fireplace were perfect to curl up in anytime. Great little loft area with comfy chair and ottoman is also a nice place to curl up with morning coffee to watch for deer and turkey in the woods. Kitchen fully stocked with everything a cook might need. Not much pantry space, but plenty of counter space and large dining room table. Garbage disposal and dishwasher too. The location is perfect--not far from the General Store, recycling/refuse center, Owner's Club, golf course for winter skiing and a short drive to Highway 20 (pick up farm fresh eggs from the farmer on Mt. Hope Road just outside the exit. ) Not one complaint about this home...way beyond excellent! |

Great weekend
We had a great weekend! The house was good but is beginning to show it's age a little bit. The sliding doors need a little WD40 or someone strong to open them. The porch and deck are wonderful. The dishwasher didn't work but I'm used to doing dishes. The bedroom window was very hard to open and then we had to push from the outside to get it closed so the house could be all locked up. It is very nicely decorated. The kitchen is very adequately filled with everything you need when you eat in. Although we didn't use them the new washer and dryer are a plus when you have kids with you. We talked about doing a week in the summer since there are so many things to do in Galena. I've been there probably a half dozen times (way back in the late 70's when the Territory was new and several times for the October Craft Fair) and still haven't been to Grant's home or the Mansion. Next time. |
