What is a vacation rental property, and how does it differ from a hotel?
Vacation rentals offer an alternative to traditional hotel, motel, and resort accommodations. The primary advantages of vacation rentals are lower cost, privacy, and larger space. Our vacation rentals allow the entire family to stay under the same roof in private vacation rental homes, town homes or condos. Our vacation rentals offer more space and amenities, such as fully equipped kitchens and private swimming pools and hot tubs. You’ll be able to personally select the vacation rental you want, based on your individual needs. Whether you’re looking for a family getaway or a romantic weekend for two Galena Reservations has a rental home to fit your needs.
How do I make a reservation and when are the payments due for my reservation?
You may either make your reservation on line using our website reservation system, or by calling our office. For reservations call us at (888) 801-3111. A reservation fee equal to one night lodging + tax is required to secure your reservation. This fee can be secured with a credit card or check; however, a credit card is required to confirm your reservation. Acceptable payment methods include check, money order, Visa, MasterCard or Discover. The remainder of the balance due on your rental will be charged 14 days prior to your stay. Unless other arrangements are made, the credit card on file will automatically be charged.
What is the cancellation policy?
Cancellation Policy: If you cancel 30 days or more before your arrival date, you will be refunded the money you paid minus a $25.00 processing and cancellation fee. Cancellations made less than 30 days before your arrival will require a forfeiture of your one nights lodging deposit. There will be no refunds for cancellations made within 14 days of your arrival date, including early check outs, no-shows or inclement weather. Any cancelations made within 14 days of your scheduled arrival will cause a complete forfeiture of your entire rental fees and are non-refundable.
Do you require a security deposit?
No security deposit is required; however we require a valid credit card to confirm your reservation. The credit card will be charged one night lodging including tax to secure your reservation. Additional charges to the card on file may occur if it is determined that your stay resulted in costs to the homeowner if it is determined that some activity of yours (or one of your guests) violated the terms and conditions of the Rental Agreement.
When do I get the keys?
Our homes are accessed using a Lock Box system. The use of Lock Box system provides our guests with a more secure and flexible means of household entry. We ask that the key always remain in the lock box and you share the code with your guests. That way no body is ever locked out of the home. You will receive driving direction and a 4 digit PIN code 3 days before your scheduled arrival.
What time is check-in and where do I check in?
Check-in time is 4:00 pm.
What time is check-out?
Check-out time is 11:00 am. When departing from your stay you are asked to remove your trash and to leave the key in the lock box.
Is it possible to get an early check-in or late check out?
Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. Arrivals before 4 p.m. are generally not permitted. Check out time is 11 a.m. Departures after 11 a.m. are generally not permitted. If the unit is ready and available, we will try to accommodate early arrival or late departure, however, check-in prior to or check-out later than 2:00 pm is subject to the cost of half of the units nightly rental fee. Early arrival or late departure without prior consent will result in an automatic $100 fine applied to your reservation balance. This restriction sometimes comes as a surprise to people who are use to staying in hotels, motels, and resorts. Please try to appreciate the stark difference between the work involved in properly cleaning a private residential home and the time required to clean a much smaller hotel room. It can take up to 5 hours to clean a private residential home (hence the reason for the 5-hour gap between check-out and check-in time). Moreover, our homes require routine and special maintenance which must be completed between occupancies. The only way to be certain of an early check in is to purchase the night prior to your arrival. The only way to secure a late check-out is to purchase the night after your scheduled departure.
Do I have to clean the home before departing?
After you depart the home the housekeepers will arrive to clean the home. We ask that you pick up after yourselves and return any moved items to their original location. If your group leaves the home in a condition which requires excessive cleaning you will be required to pay $25 per hour for each additional hour of cleaning. Upon departure, you will be asked to leave used beds unmade, put wet towels in tub/shower and start the dishwasher before you leave the home. Housekeeping will take care of the rest of it.
How many people are allowed to stay in each property?
Our homes are to be used for the Quiet enjoyment of our guests and NOT to be used for parties, large gatherings or receptions beyond the sleeping capacity of the home. If you have need of a group facility or large gathering place, we have recommendations. The capacity of the home is as follows:
- One Bedroom: Sleeps 2 people with a maximum occupancy of 4 people
- Two Bedroom: Sleeps 4 people with a maximum occupancy of 6 people
- Three Bedroom: Sleeps 6 people with a maximum occupancy of 8 people
- Four Bedroom: Sleeps 8 people with a maximum occupancy of 10 people
- Five Bedroom: Sleeps 10 people with a maximum occupancy of 12 people
Are Pets Allowed?
Yes, pets are allowed in some homes. However, not all properties are pet friendly. Please be specific when with your request when booking. No more than two (2) pets (dogs – no puppies and no cats allowed) are allowed in approved pet friendly units and only with the prior consent. A nonrefundable pet fee of $10.00 per pet per night will be charged and guests are responsible financially for any and all damages. We cannot guarantee that non-pet homes have never had a pet in them. If it is found that you have an unapproved pet in your unit, you can be evicted without refund and/or charged a $500 penalty plus the cost of any damages or cleaning required.
Are linens and towels provided?
Yes, linens and bath towels are provided based on the size of home you are reserving. Linens/blankets/pillows for sleeper sofas are NOT provided. You will need to bring beach towels for swimming pool use, bath towels are not to be removed from the home.
Does the property have a washer and dryer?
Yes, all of the properties advertised have private washers and dryers inside the properties. A small amount of laundry detergent is provided with your stay.
Do the properties come with telephones?
Some properties have telephones and some do not have phones.
What do we have to do when we check out?
Check-out instructions will be in the guest book at each unit. Here are the check-out requirements:
- WINTER – turn the heat down to 60 degrees (Do NOT turn heat to the OFF position!)
- SUMMER – turn the A/C to 80 degrees.
- Please tidy up after yourselves and do not leave a mess behind.
- Please run the dishwasher.
- Please close and lock all doors and windows.
- Please leave used beds unmade and leave used towels in the bath tubs.
- Please leave all Amenity Passes in designated area where found. There is a $75.00 replacement fee for missing amenity passes.
- Please remove all trash (see map for dumpster locations). If you prefer to have us remove the trash, please leave $2.00 per bag for removal.
- Check to make sure you have all of your personal items, there will be a minimum fee of $25.00 +shipping costs charged for any items that have to be returned.
- Please turn off ALL lights and return the key to the lock box
Is booking online secure?
Yes, our payments are processed though VacationRentPayment. VacationRentPayment a member of the PCI, is CISP and DSS Compliance Validated. This program is intended to protect cardholder data, ensuring that members, merchants, and service providers maintain the highest information security standard.
What type of appliances or kitchenware can I expect in the kitchen?
All of our units have full kitchens which a stove, oven, microwave, standard coffee pot, toaster, and refrigerator. Each home also has silverware, knives, plates, bowels, cups, and coffee cups. Standard kitchen items are provided; special use items such as a steamer or rice cooker would not be available and should be brought.
What supplies will come in the unit?
A starter supply of bar soap, dish soap, laundry detergent, dishwasher detergent, hand soap, toilet paper and paper towels are provided. Paper Plates and napkins are NOT provided.
Is daily maid service included?
No, housekeeping is done after your departure. There is NO daily housekeeping provided.
Are the units air conditioned?
Yes, all homes have air conditioning and heat.
Do the units have televisions?
Yes, every homes have a television and either Satellite or Cable Service. Some homes have multiple televisions.
Is internet provided in all homes?
NO, Internet service is available in all homes. Internet has been installed by the owner in some of our homes. Please check the amenity listing to determine if internet is provided in the home. No additional charges are billed to guests for internet service. We cannot guarantee that the internet will be operating properly during your stay; refunds and/or service calls are NOT offered after hours should access or connections not be functioning. There is internet service available at the Owner’s Club Facility.
Can I smoke in the unit?
NO, smoking is not allowed in any of our vacation homes. Violations may result in a $500.00 penalty. Smoking is allowed outdoors ONLY, please be sure that the glass patio door are closed when smoking on a screen porch or deck. You are responsible for properly disposing of your cigarette/cigar butts and debris.
Where do I dispose of my garbage?
There is no garbage service is available in the resort areas. You are responsible of disposing of your own trash. There are dumpsters available for your use and are indicated in documentation located at each vacation home. If you prefer to have housekeeping remove your trash at the end of your stay, please leave $2.00 per bag left behind.
